Release time: 2022-07-27

The College of International Education has a team of highly educated faculties with senior professional titles. There are a total of 35 members, including 4 professors, 3 associate professors, and 11 with doctoral degrees.

Under the philosophy of “Amazing WZUers: Bring the World to Wenzhou, Bridge Wenzhou with the World,” the College offers general education courses for international students to cultivate their international vision and bond with China. It also undertakes tasks such as international cooperative education projects, international promotion of Chinese language, and the construction of the Chinese language education base for the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.

The College offers the undergraduate program of Chinese language and literature. Relying on the major of Chinese language and literature with the longest history in Wenzhou University, this program began to recruit international students in 2010. The graduates would have a thorough understanding of Chinese economy and culture, the cross-cultural communication and business communication skills, and be able to use Chinese proficiently to engage in various types of business and trade activities. Graduates would have broad choices of employment and can be engaged in the teaching and management of Chinese as a foreign language in colleges and universities, secondary schools and language training institutions. They can become secretary, translator, salesperson, business event organizer in multinational enterprises, or be responsible for Sino-foreign exchanges in government and social departments. Many of our graduates are working in Chinese enterprises and Sino-foreign joint ventures, or self-employed. Translators for international institutions, tour guides and Chinese teachers are also popular choices.

In 2018, the College gained the qualification to grant the master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages for both Chinese and international students. The aim is to cultivate their cross-cultural communication skills, help them adapt to work of promoting the Chinese culture, and build their proficiency in the Chinese language to carry out various teaching tasks. In recent years, the College has vigorously introduced excellent teachers, actively built platforms for discipline development, international cooperation, and student competitions, and developed characteristic courses. We actively collaborate with universities in Thailand in the international promotion of Chinese language, cultural and academic exchanges, etc., and promote cross-cultural youth training and inter-university exchanges and cooperation.

To provide students with better educational resources and improve teaching effectiveness, the College adopts the training model that combines curriculum learning with educational practice. Students can receive feedback from on-campus tutors and off-campus tutors, and engage in one-to-one guidance and collective training. We have built multi-category research platforms by cooperating with the Confucius Institute at Burapha University, Italian Branch (Arezzo Campus) of Wenzhou University and Chinese schools in Europe. Students could take internships there to practical experience.
