UBC Vice President Rehan Sadiq Visits WZU for Exchange and Discussion

On the morning of April 3rd, Wenzhou University held a cooperation negotiation meeting with the University of British Columbia (UBC) from Canada. ZHAO Min, President of Wenzhou University, and Dr. Rehan Sadiq, Vice President and Provost of UBC, along with Professor Kasun Hewage from UBC and Professor Jianbing LI from the University of Northern British Columbia, attended the meeting, alongside representatives from the International Relations Office and the College of Life and Environmental Science, as well as faculty representatives.


President ZHAO Min delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome to the UBC delegation. He introduced the basic situation of Wenzhou University from aspects such as its development history, talent cultivation, faculty team, and international exchanges. President ZHAO emphasized that Wenzhou University, as the only comprehensive university in the southern Zhejiang, northern Fujian, and eastern Jiangxi, and as a key university in Zhejiang Province, is committed to the coordinated development of basic and applied research, advancing simultaneously in humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering and technology. He highlighted the university's dedication to enhancing academic research and international exchanges, stating that collaboration with the University of British Columbia, renowned in various fields, would strongly promote cooperation between the two universities in academics, scientific research, and talent cultivation.

Dr. Rehan Sadiq delivered a speech, introducing the basic situation of the University of British Columbia and emphasizing the significant role of international exchanges and cooperation in promoting the development of higher education. He expressed his anticipation for deeper cooperation with Wenzhou University in various fields.

Both parties conducted in-depth discussions on talent cultivation, academic exchange, and cooperation. Representatives from Wenzhou University introduced the achievements and characteristics of the university in research, teaching, and international exchange, while representatives from the University of British Columbia shared their experiences and practices in relevant fields. Both sides exchanged views on future cooperation directions, reaching multiple consensuses.

Through this cooperation negotiation meeting, Wenzhou University and the University of British Columbia further deepened their understanding and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both parties, the cooperation between the two universities will achieve even more fruitful results.
