WZU wins First Prizes in National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovational Design Competition

Recently, the final of the 10th National Undergraduate Mechanical Innovational Design Competition (UMIC) was held in Shenzhen Technology University. Students from Wenzhou University won 2 national first prizes and 3 third prizes, making WZU one of the leading participating universities.

Held by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education once every two years, UMIC is an important extracurricular science and technology competition for students majoring in science and engineering nationally. With a history of 20 years, the competition has attracted more than 120,000 students and 25,000 entries at or above the provincial level. UMIC has become a major event of science and technology for undergraduate students, representing the highest level of mechanical innovation and design ability of college students.

Themed byNature, Harmony, the content this year is the design and production of bionic machinery and ecological restoration machinery. 5,972 entries from 704 universities in 30 national divisions participated in the provincial preliminary, the most ever. After fierce competition, 162 national first prizes, 266 second prizes and 125 third prizes were awarded. Among them, two entries from Wenzhou University, "Water Quality Monitoring and Collection System Based on Robotic Bionic Fish" and "Offshore Red Tide Garbage Disposal Device", won the national first prizes. "Lifeguard Robot -- Bionic Frog", "Pipe Elf -- Bionic Earthworm" and "Straw-checkerboard Automatic Paving Machine" won the national third prizes.

In recent years, Wenzhou University has been closely following the main principle of cultivating students with "professional knowledge, innovation ability and craftsmanship" and has been making new moves in the foundation, goal, path, quality and platform of talents cultivation diligently and practically. Through making efforts, creating ideas, new measures and seeking effective results in the foundation, goal, path, quality and platform of innovative talents cultivation, huge progress has been made in terms of WZU students' professional knowledge, innovative skills and engineering accomplishment.
