Professor Xue Wei’team won three awards

Release time: 2021-03-16

China Invention Association and China Association for the Promotion of Industry-University-Research Cooperation successively announced the 2020 Invention and Entrepreneurship & Innovation Award and 2020 China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation and Promotion Award. The team led by Professor Xue Wei from Wenzhou University won the first prize of Invention and Entrepreneurship & Innovation Award (approved by Ministry of Science and Technology), Industry-university-research cooperation innovation award (individual), and Industry-university-research cooperation innovation award (institute).

The project "Key Technologies and Applications of Laser Strengthening and Composite Manufacturing of Complex Components" won the first prize of Invention and Entrepreneurship & Innovation Award

The project was led by Professor Xue Wei and completed in cooperation with Wenzhou University, Jiangsu University, Shenyang Aerospace University, Wenzhou University Laser and Optoelectronics Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute, etc. It mainly focuses on major national strategic needs and combines theoretical calculations with experimental research. A series of creative results have been achieved in the areas of laser shock strengthening and composite remanufacturing of high-end complex components, as well as key technologies and complete sets of equipment. The theory helps solve the laser strengthening and remanufacturing problems of complex components that have long existed in the field of aero-engines in China. Some indicators have reached the international leading level, and are widely used in the fields of anti-fatigue manufacturing and remanufacturing of aero engines, large aircraft, steam turbines, heavy machinery and auto parts, leading the technological advancement of the high-end component laser strengthening and remanufacturing industry. Among them, the theory of laser shock strengthening and composite remanufacturing of high-end complex components, key technologies and complete sets of equipment have obtained 47 invention patents. Related SCI-indexed papers have been cited and evaluated by NAE members, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc.

Professor Xue Wei won the Industry-university-research cooperation innovation award (individual)

Professor Xue Wei has long been committed to scientific research and production in laser and optoelectronic technology, mechanical manufacturing engineering and automation. He undertook and participated in more than 20 national and provincial scientific research projects, and authorized more than 70 invention patents, two of which were authorized invention patents in the US. He published more than 100 academic papers, including more than 40 SCI-indexed papers. The application of his research results in enterprises has generated hundreds of millions of profits. He also won more than 10 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards.

Professor Xue Wei focuses on serving the local industry and helping the high-quality development of laser and optoelectronic industry in Wenzhou. He founded Wenzhou University Laser and Optoelectronics Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute. After four years of development, the Institute has successively been rated as new R&D institution in Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang Provincial Engineering Laboratory, Zhejiang-Russia Ultrafast Laser Advanced Manufacturing International Cooperation Joint Laboratory, etc. At present, Wenzhou is home to 461 enterprises in the laser and optoelectronic industries, achieving a total industrial output value of 72.476 billion yuan.

Wenzhou University Laser and Optoelectronics Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute won Industry-university-research cooperation innovation award (institute)

Wenzhou University Laser and Optoelectronics Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute integrates basic research on laser and optoelectronic intelligent manufacturing innovation, technical services and transactions, enterprise incubation and investment & financing services into an open laser and optoelectronic innovation network. At present, it has developed a series of products such as cutting equipment for hard and brittle materials, laser marking welding system, and bearing intelligent detection system based on machine vision and laser measurement. Up to now, it has more than 100 partner enterprises, more than 150 technical services with the income of over 20 million yuan. More than 20 technological achievements were transferred through auctions and patent transfers. With technology development, technology transfer, technical services, technical consulting, and undertaking of scientific research projects as its source of income, the institute establishes entrepreneurial incubation seed funds, invests in start-up enterprises with high innovation capabilities and development potential, and supports the development of enterprises.
