ZHANG Jian, Party Secretary of WZU Leads Delegation to Germany and Italy for Educational Cooperation and Research

ZHANG Jian, the Secretary of the School Party Committee, led a delegation to Germany and Italy for an educational cooperation inspection from August 24th to 31st. This visit aimed to advance the school's strategic goal of achieving "Double First-Class" status, deepen the implementation of the internationalization strategy in education, strengthen practical cooperation with overseas partners, enhance the local characteristics and development of the university, and strengthen ties and collaboration with overseas alumni associations and overseas business associations to elevate the internationalization of the university. Accompanying the delegation were XIA Chunyu, Director ofStrategic DevelopmentOffice, HUANG Wenhao, Director of the InternationalRelationsOffice,BAO Hanli, Dean of the Overseas Chinese College, and WU Mingge, Director of the Experimental Teaching Center of theCollege of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

During the inspection, Secretary ZHANG and the delegation had extensive interactions with the heads of the Chinese Consulate General in Frankfurt, representatives ofcooperative institutions, high-level universities, overseas Chinese language schools, and European alumni associations, as well as leaders of overseasChinesebusiness associations in Germany and Italy. They engaged in in-depth discussions on topics related to collaborative education, enrollment, talent attraction, research on the protection of overseas Chinese interests, and the overseas Chinese language education.

Regarding collaborative education, not only did they consolidate the achievements of our school's collaboration with friendly institutions such as the University of Siena in Italy and the Ernst-Abbe-HochschuleJena University of Applied Sciences in Germany, but they also expanded into new collaborative projects with institutions like Politecnico di Milano,Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di MILANO, andHMKW-Hochschule für Medien, Kommunikation und Wirtschaft.

In the field of overseas Chinese language education cooperation, Secretary ZHANG and the delegation conducted on-site visits and discussions at institutions including thePaoloARS GeniusSchool, the Oriental Languages Institute of Prato in Italy, the Union of Overseas Chinese Schools in Germany, and the Xin Hua Chinese Education School in Frankfurt. They met with several leaders of Chinese language schools in Germany and Italy, deeply studied how Wenzhou University can leverage its advantages toenhance overseas Chinese language education, and explored opportunities for cooperation in basic education between affiliated schools of Wenzhou University and overseas Chinese language schools.

Furthermore, Secretary Zhang and the delegation had in-depth discussions with overseas business associations in Milan,Brick Investments,Associazione imprenditori cinesiinFlorence,andtheAssociation ofChinese Young EntrepreneursinEurope.In addition,the delegation also conducted discussions on cooperation with overseas business associations, as well as alumni enterprises. They had in-depth exchanges with the heads of the European Alumni Associations in Italy, Germany, and Portugal, conducted research on the situation of overseas Chinese, and explored the possibilities of enrollment for overseas Chinese students and international students in these community organizations. They leveraged these collaborations to attract high-level talent from overseas and expand friendly projects with partner universities for the school.

This inspection marked the first overseas educational cooperation inspection in the new stage of the school's strategic goal of achieving "Double First-Class" status. It coincided with the 90th anniversary of the schoolandits crucial moment of striving to become a high-level university in Zhejiang Province. It has broadened new horizons, created new platforms, expanded new paths, and opened up new prospects for the school to deepen the implementation of its internationalization strategy, enhance internal and external interactions, integrate high-quality overseas resources, and promote high-quality internal development.
