World Young Scientist Summit 2022 - International Safety and Emergency Artificial Intelligence Summit Held Successfully

On December 11, the World Young Scientist Summit (WYSS) 2022 - International Safety and Emergency Artificial Intelligence Summit was successfully opened in Wenzhou Marine Economic Development Demonstration Zone (MEDDZ) . This summit was hosted by Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology (ZAST) and Wenzhou Municipal Peoples Government, and organized by WZU/College of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of WZU and Wenzhou MEDDZ Management Committee. Zhang Xiaoqin, member of the Leading Party Members Group and Vice Chairman of ZAST, Xu Hekun, member of the Party Committee and Vice President of WZU, Ye Haifeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Executive Deputy Director of Wenzhou MEDDZ Management Committee, and Yu Chuang, President of Zhejiang Industry and Trade Vocational College, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

With the theme of Digital Empowerment - New Ecology of Security and Emergency, this forum was carried out both online and offline. More than 150 people participated in the forum offline, including experts in related fields, municipal (district-level) department leaders, enterprise representatives, representatives of teachers and students from universities and colleges in Wenzhou, and international friends, etc. The number of online viewers reached 34,900.

Zhang Xiaoqin, member of the Leading Party Members Group and Vice Chairman of ZAST, welcomed the guests at the forum. He pointed out that while the new round of technological revolution and industrial change was reshaping the global innovation pattern, the cause of safety and emergency management was confronted with both great promise, challenges and tasks. It was urgent to figure out how to achieve a higher level of safety and emergency management system. He mentioned that the provincial key laboratory of the College of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of WZU, as an integral part of Zhejiangs science and technology innovation system, would continue to promote the modernization of emergency management system and capability, and provide a pillar for the economic and social development of Zhejiang and even the whole country.

Xu Hekun, Vice President of WZU, mentioned in his speech that universities were the center of the primary productive force of science and technology, the most precious resource of talents and the first driving force of innovation, and it was the bounden duty of WZU to serve the local economic and social development by empowering the citys safety and emergency industry. WZU, in response to the major national strategies and regional industrial development needs, has established the College of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, built such provincial-level scientific research platforms as Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Safety and Emergency Intelligent Information Technology, and actively engaged in the main battlefield of safety and emergency management. It has, as always, offered important scientific and technological support for urban safety and emergency management.

Ye Haifeng, Executive Deputy Director of Wenzhou MEDDZ Management Committee, said that safety and emergency management being people-oriented, and artificial intelligence being an extension of human capabilities, it should be the purpose of safety and emergency sideline industries to help human beings with machines. In recent years, Wenzhou MEDDZ has been actively practicing the spirit of General Secretary’s important statements on promoting the modernization of Chinas emergency management system and capability, and has been making every effort to march into the blue ocean of the safety and emergency industry, transforming the safety of the whole area into the momentum for industrial development.

In the keynote presentation, experts from all around the country shared their thoughts and elaborated new methods and theories in the fields of safety and emergency intelligent perception, safety and emergency big data intelligent analysis and safety and emergency early warning. They included Guan Xiaohong, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of Xian Jiaotong University, Zheng Yujun, Outstanding Youth of Zhejiang Province and professor of Hangzhou Normal University, Chen Ang, expert of Zhejiang Province Thousand Talents Plan and Ph.D. supervisor of Akron University, Gao Xinbo, National Outstanding Youth and President of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Wang Bing, Chief Expert of National Social Science Foundation Major Project and professor of Central South University, Guo Kehua, Top Youth of National Ten Thousand Talents Plan and professor of Central South University, and Shi Yanchao, winner of National Excellent Young Scientists Fund and professor of Tianjin University. 

In addition, at this forum, WZU (Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Safety and Emergency Intelligent Information Technology) and Zhejiang Wenzhou MEDDZ Management Committee signed a strategic cooperation agreement, which prescribed to carry out comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in the field of safety and emergency. Also on the agenda were the unveiling of 360 Digital Security Industry College, the launch of Wenzhou Digital Economy Research Institute Safety and Emergency Expert Committee, and the appointment of experts for the Expert Committee.

This forum built an effective platform for international exchange and learning in the field of safety and emergency artificial intelligence. Experts and scholars across regions and disciplines conducted academic exchanges to jointly promote high-quality development of emergency and safety field. In the future, the College of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of WZU will devote itself to injecting Wenzhou elements and Wenzhou University experience into the innovation of safety and emergency, playing an exemplary role in promoting shared prosperity.
