WZU Rises in U.S. News Best Global Universities rankings

Recently, U.S. News released the 2023 Best Global Universities rankings, which includes 2,000 top universities in 95 countries or regions, covering more than 40 academic fields.

 

A total of 382 Chinese universities are on the list, 338 of which are from the mainland. Tsinghua University ranks 23rd globally, the top among mainland universities, followed by Peking University. Zhejiang University ranks 93rd in the world and 4th in China, entering the global top 100 for the first time. Wenzhou University comes in No. 7 among universities in Zhejiang Province, up 221 places globally and 23 places domestically compared with the previous year.

 

Chinese universities continue to shine in the U.S. News list of Best Global Universities for Engineering. Many disciplines of Wenzhou University have been outstanding in the list. Six disciplines of WZU including computer science, engineering, chemistry, materials science and physical chemistry have been ranked among the top 10 universities in the Zhejiang province in the list of the US News 2023 Top Global Universities by Subject Area. 

 

The Best Global Universities Rankings has been released for nine consecutive years by the U.S. News & World Report. The list, which measures the overall academic research performance and reputation of universities rather than individual undergraduate or postgraduate programs, provides a more comprehensive and accurate comparison of higher education institutions around the world.

 

The main indicators of this year's U.S. News Best Global Universities rankings are as follows: Global Research Reputation 12.5% Weight; Regional Research Reputation 12.5% Weight; Publications 10% Weight, Books 2.5% Weight; Conferences 2.5% Weight; Normalized Citation Impact 10% Weight; Total Citations 7.5% Weight; Number of Publications that are among the 10% Most Citations 12.5% Weight; Percentage of Total Publications that are among the 10% Most Citations 10% Weight; International Collaboration 10% Weight; Number of Highly Cited Papers that are among the Top 1% Most Cited in their Respective Field 5% Weight; Percentage of Total Publications that are among the Top 1% Most Highly Cited Papers 5% Weight.
