School of Physical Education and Health
The School of Physical Education and Health offers programs in Physical Education (teacher training) and Leisure Sports. There are 12 professors, 21 associate professors, 17 with doctoral degrees, 22 with the qualification to supervise postgraduate students, 1 former member of the National College Physical Education Steering Committee, and 11 national referees. The School pools various talents, including candidates for the National Talents Program, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions, academic leaders in Zhejiang Province, candidates for Zhejiang Provincial 151 Talent Program, provincial outstanding teachers, national referees, world champions, and international athletes. Nearly 70% of our staff have senior professional titles and 90% hold doctoral and master’s degrees.
First-class hardware facilities
The School has two large gymnasiums on the north and south campuses, which include basketball halls, volleyball halls, table tennis halls, gymnastics halls, aerobics halls, martial arts halls, badminton halls, fitness halls, etc. It has three tennis courts, one outdoor swimming pool, 39 outdoor basketball courts, 20 outdoor volleyball courts, 14 outdoor tennis courts, two 400-meter standard plastic tracks and fields, and one football field.
Excellent performance in competitions
We have built more than 10 professional and public sports teams, including track and field, football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, tennis, dance, martial arts, taekwondo, wrestling, orienteering, swimming, dragon dance and Universiade sunshine events, among which dragon boat, kayak and baseball are featured items. In recent years, the team members have won gold and silver medals in the national and provincial competitions. The dragon boat team achieved excellent results in events such as the China Longzhou Tournament, the Youth Games of the People’s Republic of China, and the ICF World Cup, which greatly promoted the reputation of Wenzhou University.
High-quality teaching platforms
The School actively seeks support from government departments. It has been licensed by the Sports Culture Development Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the National Vocational Skills Training Base for the Sports Industry. We worked with other institutions to build Wenzhou Key Laboratory of Health and Fitness, Wenzhou Sports Collaborative and Innovative Development Center, Wenzhou Sports and Health Development Research Center, Wenzhou Football Academy, Wenzhou Dragon Boat Academy, etc. Those platforms play the important role in improving students’ professional and practical abilities.
