Inauguration of International Aquatic Eco-Environment Research Center built by Wenzhou University and University of Tokyo

On the morning of May 10, the inauguration of International Aquatic Eco-Environment Research Center jointly established by Wenzhou University and University of Tokyo was held in the International Conference Room, Yuying Library through ZOOM. Professor Satoshi Takizawa, Director of the Research Center for Water Environmental Technology, University of Tokyo, Professor Katayama Hiroyuki, School of Engineering, University of Tokyo, Professor Zhao Min, President of Wenzhou University, and heads of International Relations Office, Office of Science and Technology, and relevant teachers and students attended the meeting.

Professor Zhao Min congratulated College of Life and Environmental Science, Wenzhou University and the Research Center for Water Environmental Engineering, University of Tokyo for jointly establishing the "International Aquatic Eco-Environment Research Center". He also expressed his gratitude to the professors with the University of Tokyo for all the efforts they have made. Zhao Min introduced the university philosophy, and pointed out that Wenzhou University has 3 national scientific research platforms such as the "National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Urban Water Pollution Ecological Treatment Technology", and 29 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research platforms including laboratories, providing strong support for scientific research, technological innovation and talent training. Zhao Min said that the establishment of the "International Aquatic Eco-Environment Research Center" had great significance and influence on further strengthening and deepening the international exchanges between the two universities, and broadening the areas of cooperation in academic research and personnel training.

Professor Satoshi Takizawa expressed his gratitude and respect to the leaders and professors with Wenzhou University for their contributions to the Sino-Japanese cooperation. He said that how to solve the problems of water pollution and environment was a common environmental problem and challenge faced by China and Japan. It is expected that through the newly established research center, the two sides would work side by side to strengthen the exchange of disciplines and talents in the treatment of water pollution and the environment, and make positive contributions to the governance of the world's water pollution environment.

The head of the College of Life and Environmental Science, Wenzhou University introduced the construction of key disciplines such as ecology, and said that the establishment of the "International Aquatic Eco-Environment Research Center" would open a new chapter for the college’s global engagement.
