Prof. Wei Jingxian’s Portrait Embroidery
Portrait embroidery is a feature of the research in WenzhouUniversity. Prof. Wei is an outstanding artist in this field. His works are popular both at home and abroad, including U.K., U.S.A., Canada, Japan, and so on. In 1983, by means of stereoscopic techniques, he created the masterwork “The Elderly Baishi”, a portrait of the famous Chinese painter Qi Baishi, which won him the Prize for Excellent Creation, one of the categories of the One Hundred Flowers Award for Chinese Handicrafts. In 1985, his color portrait of Princess Diana was presented as a state gift to Her Highness from Wales, who praised it highly for its exquisiteness and resemblance. For more details, enter here.
